8.5 inches at the widest and 9 inches tall.
This twisted vase has a difficult glaze that does not always behave well. I am pleased with how this one came out.
The twisted vases are begun on the wheel as a simple barrel shape then taken off the wheel. I push out from the inside with my fingertips to create these forms. If I do too much at once the clay rips or collapses so I let the clay stiffen a bit and then work it some more. It can take a total of 5 hours in 15 to 45 min sessions for this size piece, depending on the difficulties I may encounter. Rims get pinched and pulled, handles attached and pulled. The technique is similar to making a pinch pot. I can repeat a theme but there are no two alike.
